an autumn garden tour on beechwood
Lots of fun on Saturday afternoon at the Beechwood Road home of Steven Costoff and Shane Thrailkill, who hosted a Fall tour of their gorgeous, one-of-a-kind garden!
About two dozen Hillers showed up for the informal event — a cooler and more comfortable repeat of their Summer tour earlier this year, which was a scorcher.. Shane and Steven answered questions about their all-season garden and its roots in an original 1953 design by superstar landscape architect Dan Kiley. And even though we’re in late October (when most of our plants are looking a little desperate), the garden looked amazing — alive with color and interest, and an inspiration to all of us not-so-green-thumbers.
On top of that, there was free-flowing wine, tables of amazing delicacies, and perfect fall weather, which all made for a lively party. And an enlargement of the original Kiley plan on the patio made it easy to see the innovative ideas behind the design.
Many thanks to Shane, Steven, and everyone who came! Click here for more on the garden and its remarkable history.
